Here you will find answers to questions regarding your application!
An application is possible at any time. Following the motto – „the sooner, the better“. Application is non-binding and can be done even without having already passed higher education entrance qualification.
Everyone, who completes educational training, which requests general qualification for university entrance, may apply for accommodation.
In exceptional cases applications of students of secondary schools qualifying for university entrance (e.g. technical or business college) can be considered. However, it requisites that the applicant will be 18 years of age during the school year (in written consent by the parents), or already older.
Of course, our dormitories are managed internationally.
Once your application is received, your data will be transferred on the date of receipt in any case in our dormitory management program. You are then de facto already on our waiting list.
After submitting the necessary documents such as school attendance certificate OR school leaving examination OR confirmation of enrolment a possible accommodation allocation (if enough rooms are available), almost nothing else stands in the way. Erasmus students please send us your admission to the Erasmus program!
A reservation can only take place under the following conditions: having received a contract offer from our side; having received the necessary payments within the requested period of time and having received the signed contract. Otherwise you have no claim for any accommodation.
In general, the usage contract will be signed for a period of twelve months (winter and summer semester), in which the minimum contract period is one semester (e.g. Erasmus programme).
In exceptional cases (e.g. during the summer months) guest contracts for a shorter period may be issued.. These contracts may also be concluded with non-students (e.g. interns).
If rooms are available guest contracts can be signed for this period.
No, this is not foreseen in our dormitories in Vienna. Guest contracts can only be completed on a monthly basis.
Yes. Contracts can be completed for a minimum term of one semester.
In general yes, but sufficient large rooms have to be available. Child reduction on request.
For assignment for the winter semester, most offers will be set in about mid-May (depending on the contract renewal process). For assignment for the summer semester in about mid-December. Since our contracts include a three- month notice period, move-outs can take place during the semester. In this case we offer accommodation continuously.
The final refusals will announced approx. one week after the requested move-in date because until then it still may be short-term contract cancelations and the waiting list continues to be processed.
There is no age limit, due to the Austrian Student Residence law. However, consider that the average age of our residents is about 22 years.

Only one application is needed. Afterwards your data is in our system. Multiple applications will not be recognized! If you would like to change or add something to your application please write an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Note: please think twice before you choose one of our dormitories (multiple choices). We will only offer one additional change afterwards.
Yes - it is possible to indicate your interest in more than one dorm when filling out the application. (1st, 2nd, 3rd choice, other dorms) As room becomes available, you then receive a corresponding offer. Please note that it will not always be possible to fulfill your wishes regarding your prioritized dorms a 100 %! But our team will do its best, to allocate accomodation in the dorm you prefer!

After having successfully sent your application, you will receive a notification by our server. However, you will not receive any confirmation for additional send documents. If documents are missing, we will request them from you.
The allocation is performed autonomously by the administrations of the respective dorms.* (For any further questions please contact your favourite dormitory).* The application desk only processes the applications.
In the STUWO dorms (Strozzigasse 6-8, 1080 Wien und Kenyongasse 23-25, 1070 Wien) single rooms are allocated internally. This means that new residents may only apply for double-occupancy rooms (Cat. C,D and E). It is not necessary to apply with a roommate. Roommates are assigned according to gender by the dorm administrator. Of course, we do our best to accommodate special wishes.
“Haus Dückegasse” will be the first students’ residence in Austria to allow pets. The others do not allow the keeping of domesticated animals.
The dorm rules for domestic animals!
If parents (or persons obliged to pay alimony ) have more than one child (pupil or student entitled to maintenance) living in a STUWO-residence, they can file an application in writing for a reduction of the deposit for any further child after the first!
If the STUWO-administration approves the application for reduction, beforehand the applicant has to hand in a proof of obligation of maintenance, e.g. by a document of approval of family allowance (=child benefit) of its parents or a valid judicial decision thereabout and a residence registration certificate. Then the first child has to pay the full deposit of Euro 700,00 and any further sibling the reduced deposit of Euro 300,00.
If one of those siblings residing in a STUWO-dorm moves out, the deposits commited to the STUWO AG are refunded as follows: The full deposit of Euro 700,00 is retained for the remaining resident and the sibling moving out is payed out the reduced deposit of Euro 300,00!
Unfortunately, no. Given the limited number of single rooms, these are allocated internally. After you have begun residency, you may request to have your name placed on the waiting list.
