Café Gerberei is a popular spot for students. The colourful restaurant with a retro touch is a welcome change of scenery during exam period. To ensure that you can focus on studying, you need culinary support, which you will definitely get at café Gerberei: tea, coffee, homemade pastry and snacks such as organic flatbread. Of course there is also free WIFI!

Tip: If you are in a hurry, but don’t want to waive on your caffeine kick, you can get your favourite coffee to go at café Gerberei!

2. Die Bohne – Unser Café

Die Bohne Linz is the perfect address for coffee lovers who need to study for hours. All your wishes will be fulfilled with the extensive tea and coffee menu, cakes, pastry, bagels and baguettes. The sunny terrace is an especially beautiful spot in spring and summer.

Located right next to the Landestheater, you’ll find the tiktak café – a sweet, cosy spot that’s perfect for studying and working. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can recharge with Fair Trade coffee, delicious brunch options, and snacks.

Tip: Starting at 2:00pm, they offer a daily changing lunch menu.

4. Kaffee Glockenspiel

Address: Hauptplatz 18, 4020 Linz

Opening hours: Mon-Sat 8:00am-10:00pm, Sun 10:00am-10:00pm

The café/bar „Kaffee Glockenspiel“ is a popular café to study during the day and turns into a bar for relaxed evenings with friends at night. 5. Café Traxlmayr

Address: Promenade 16, 4020 Linz

Opening hours: Mon-Sat 8:00am-10:00pm, Sun 9:00am-10:00pm

Café Traxlmayr is a traditional coffee house that has been serving customers since 1847. Not only its historic charm, but also the homemade pastry, warm sweet dishes, for example Kaiserschmarrn (traditional Austrian dish like scrambled pancake), and the excellent coffee make a visit at café Traxlmayr a must. Studying is easier in the cozy coffee house atmosphere and with free WIFI.

Tip: If the weather is nice outside, we recommend to move your study sessions onto the cute terrace!

6. JKU Teichwerk

Address: Altenbergerstraße 69, 4040 Linz

Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9:00am-10:00pm, Sat-Sun 9:00am-3:00pm

Right next to the Johannes Kepler University is the JKU Teichwerk, a popular student restaurant that also makes a great café to study. The biggest advantage is obviously that it’s so close to university. You can continue studying in-between lectures or after a class after getting a hot coffee and delicious snacks such as a Tarte Flambée with salmon. Vegans can get their favourite coffee with soy milk!

Tip: The JKU Teichwerk is also ideal for a breakfast before university!

7. Kaffeeladen

Opening hours: Mon-Fri 7:00am-6:00pm, Sat 10:00am-5:00pm

Small but exquisite! The Kaffeeladen is a cosy café located right by Taubenmarkt. In addition to a wide selection of coffee specialties, which you can order both hot and iced, they offer delicious paninis and bagels, as well as tasty desserts to give you a boost during your study breaks.

Tip: On weekdays, you can also enjoy a lunch here until 2 pm, featuring pasta dishes at a reasonable price.

8. Café Schadzi

Address: Mozartstraße 19, 4020 Linz

Opening hours: Tue-Fri 9:00am-7:00pm, Sat 9:00am-1:00pm

Vegetarians and vegans will feel at home in the bright and open Café Schadzi. But everyone else who wants give meat-free meals a try will be happy with the delicious oriental breakfast, cakes, pies, chocolate brownies and cupcakes. You can top that off with freshly squeezed juices and freshly brewed coffee. You can indulge without guilt because all dishes are prepared without sugar.

Tip: Most of the dishes are prepared without wheat, which means that the menu is also for people with gluten intolerance.
