1. Asperner Lake

As the main feature of the future-oriented urban planning project “Seestadt”, the Asperner Lake is perfect for relaxation and refreshment. Riding your bike, going for walks, swimming and more is waiting for you in and around this green recreational area! Swimming is only allowed on the Southern shore of the lake!

The recreational area Wienerberg means relaxation and nature in the outskirts of the city. The giant area not only offers a pond for swimming, but also hiking paths, running trails, golf and tennis courts as well as soccer fields and much more!

Yes, you can swim in the Danube. However, swimming is forbidden around bridges, ports and watergates. Moreover, you should not swim too far out because currents or vortexes can be dangerous.

Is swimming in the Alte Donau dangerous?

In principle, swimming is safe in this area, since the Alte Donau is a calm body of water. Just be careful and keep a distance to swans and other birds that live here and protect their habitat.
